Island Hopping in the South Funen Archipelago for Sailors

Try Island hopping by boat. Go from Faaborg towards the three islands, Bjørnø, Lyø, and AVernakø. Faaborg Harbour offers approx. 180 guest berths and a maximum depth of 3.5 metres. Here you’ll find modern facilities, restaurants, shopping options and a cosy atmosphere close to the town’s historic centre.

Faaborg → Bjørnø
Distance: approx. 3 nautical miles
Bjørnø Harbour is a small natural harbour with space for about 15 boats and a depth of 2 metres. The island is car-free and offers tranquillity, nature and charming walking trails – perfect for a few peaceful hours on foot. You can also spend the night and wake up to birdsong and sea views.

Bjørnø → Lyø
Distance: approx. 6 nautical miles
Lyø Harbour has approx. 60 guest berths and a depth of 2.2 metres. Here you'll find a charming village, historical stone fences and protected nature areas. In summer, enjoy a meal at the island café – or stay overnight if you'd like to experience the island’s peaceful evening atmosphere.

Lyø → Avernakø
Distance: approx. 5 nautical miles
Avernakø Harbour has around 25 berths and a depth of 2 metres. The island has a vibrant local community, cafés, farm shops and beaches. You can also moor at the smaller Korshavn Harbour – a peaceful alternative on the island’s eastern side. Both harbours are ideal for an overnight stay.

Avernakø → Faaborg (via Svelmø, optional)
Distance: approx. 9 nautical miles (via Svelmø)
On the return journey, you can sail past Svelmø – an uninhabited, private island with wild nature. Mooring is not allowed, but it’s a scenic detour with chances to spot birds and seals.
