Island Hopping in The South Funen Archipelago by Sail
Set course from Faaborg and discover three islands, each with its own soul – at your own pace and with the sea as your only schedule.
Faaborg – Your Starting Point Faaborg Harbour offers approx. 180 guest berths with a depth of 3.5 metres and modern facilities close to the town's historic centre. Here you'll find restaurants, shops and a welcoming harbour atmosphere that sets the perfect scene for departure.
Faaborg → Bjørnø (approx. 3 nautical miles) Bjørnø is the small and quiet one. A car-free island with a natural harbour for approx. 15 boats and a depth of 2 metres. Go ashore and walk the peaceful trails – or stay until morning and wake up to birdsong and calm waters.
Bjørnø → Lyø (approx. 6 nautical miles) Lyø offers approx. 60 guest berths and a depth of 2.2 metres. A charming village, historic stone walls and protected nature reserves await ashore. During summer you can enjoy a meal at the island's café – and if the evening sun over the island tempts you, overnight stays are available.
Lyø → Avernakø (approx. 5 nautical miles) Avernakø is the most vibrant of the three. With approx. 25 berths in the main harbour and an active local community with cafés, farm shops and swimming beaches. If you prefer even more tranquility, you can moor in Korshavn on the island's eastern side – a peaceful alternative that is a little discovery in its own right.
Avernakø → Faaborg (approx. 9 nautical miles – via Svelmø) On the return journey, you can set course past Svelmø – an uninhabited, privately owned island with wild and untouched nature. You cannot moor here, but it is a scenic detour where seals and birds are the only ones to greet you.
