Recommended day trip on Bjørnø
Bjørnø is best experienced on foot. The island’s hilly terrain and small paths make walking the easiest way to explore, and you can circle the island along the coast in just a few hours.
Along the way, you’ll pass meadows, cliffs and open views across the archipelago. You can also visit the island’s small gallery, a local winemaker and a shop with clothing and crafts.
Near the landing bridge, you’ll find a small area with goats and pigs – a great place to take a break. In summer, a food truck operated by Økobo serves meals made from local produce.

History of Bjørnø
Bjørnø is one of the smallest islands in the South Funen Archipelago, located just 3.5 km from Faaborg. With around 35 residents, life on the island is closely tied to nature.
The landscape is shaped by coastal meadows, hedgerows and stone walls, while the small village features traditional Danish farmhouses. The island has long been home to rich birdlife and protected amphibians.

Food options on Bjørnø are seasonal. During summer, you can grab a meal from a small food truck near the harbour area, using produce from the local organic farm Økobo.
Outside summer, there are no permanent dining options, so bringing your own food is recommended.
Stay on Bjørnø
Bjørnø offers several types of accommodation in quiet, natural surroundings.
You can stay in holiday apartments and private rentals, typically with kitchen facilities, bathroom and living space – ideal for longer stays. There are also smaller rooms and simple stays with shared facilities.
