Kayak Routes in the South Funen Archipelago

The South Funen Archipelago is made for kayaking adventures. Choose anything from the short 12.5 km route around Bjørnø to the challenging Archipelago Route, which takes you through more than 110 km of islands, sounds and open waters. Along the way, you'll discover small islands, hidden beaches and some of Denmark's most beautiful coastal landscapes.

Faaborg – Bjørnø – Faaborg

This 12.5 km kayak route takes you from Faaborg Harbour around Bjørnø, one of the small islands in the South Funen Archipelago. Along the way, you can enjoy views of Faaborg Fjord and the open archipelago while taking a break on Bjørnø.

Svelmø – Avernakø - Svelmø

This 23.4 km kayak route takes you across the open waters of the South Funen Archipelago. Starting from the coast near Svelmø, the route continues to Avernakø, where wide horizons and peaceful coastal scenery await.

Sinebjerg – Lyø – Sinebjerg

This 16.9 km kayak route takes you from Sinebjerg Beach to Lyø through the beautiful island waters south of Faaborg. The route offers open sea crossings, coastal paddling and good chances of spotting harbour porpoises. Around Lyø, you can paddle close to the shore and experience the island's varied landscape from the water.

Around Helnæs Bay

This 35 km kayak route takes you all the way around scenic Helnæs Bay, starting from Faldsled Harbour. Here, you can park for free and launch your kayak directly into the water. Along the way, you'll pass the islands of Illum, Vigø and Horsehoved while enjoying a varied coastal landscape.

The Archipelago Route

The Archipelago Route is the longest kayak route in the South Funen Archipelago. Covering 110.2 km, the route passes several of the area's distinctive coastal landscapes. Starting at the kayak harbour in Faaborg, you'll experience open-water crossings, narrow sounds and idyllic island communities.
