Spooky country and frostbitten garage-folk from Northern Alberta
SMOKEY, also known as Nickelas Johnson, visits Rus&Riller on his European tour with the new album Bleak Heritage. The dark legacy of his frostbitten homeland in Northern Canada is exactly what his songs revolve around. The music is raw and quirky, honest and heartfelt, as Smokey moves freely between eerie country sounds and a kind of anti-folk with experimental garage tones. This is an intimate, unfiltered concert that invites reflection on where we come from—and what that allows us to become.
