Beautiful walks in and around Faaborg
Faaborg is home to some of the most beautiful places for a walk in South Funen. Nature surprises throughout the year – the Lilacs blooms in May, rhododendrons colour Brahetrolleborg in rich shades, and in autumn the golden leaves dress Svanninge Hills in a light that is hard to forget.
Walks that take your breath away
In Faaborg, every season has its own character – and its own beauty. In spring, white wood anemones spread like a carpet beneath the treetops in Pipstorn Forest, and in May Syrenlandet is covered in purple and white as far as the eye can see. When summer arrives, the rhododendrons at Brahetrolleborg burst into colour, stopping even the most experienced nature lover in their tracks.
Autumn paints Svanninge Hills in red and gold, and the leaves drifting down onto the forest floor create one of the area’s most atmospheric experiences. In winter, a special calm settles over The South Funen Archipelago. In the winter haze, the islands appear as dark silhouettes in the pale light – a sight that is both raw and captivating.
Below, we have gathered some of our favourite places – but the most beautiful discovery is always the one you make yourself.

Beautiful parks and gardens

De Japanske Haver is a garden‑architectural gem on Funen. From May to September, the gardens bloom in a wealth of colours, as cherry trees, rhododendrons and azaleas take turns flowering in harmony throughout the season. Find calm in the meditation house, enjoy views across the lakes – and finish with Japanese‑inspired food in the café.

The South Funen Archipelago and the surrounding natural areas are a paradise for bird enthusiasts. In Faaborg, nature sets the scene, and the birds set the pace.
